Welcome to a place where healing and growth are nurtured. This blog is your compass to navigate the world of therapy, explore personal goals, and gain fresh perspectives on the art of healing. My journey began amidst the rugged landscapes of Alaska, carrying me to vibrant corners of the globe, from Venezuela to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Brazil when I was just 16. These diverse experiences opened my eyes and heart to lives molded by unique circumstances, igniting a passion within me to empower people to thrive, regardless of their starting point.

Much like the resilient plants that push through cracks in concrete, individuals flourish with even a modicum of support. It's this belief that led me down the path to becoming a therapist. Bearing witness to the incredible progress and profound healing of my clients has become both a privilege and a calling.

I hold a firm conviction that every person carries within them the wisdom to heal. It's a journey that requires time, resources, and a sprinkle of self-compassion. I invite you to join me on this transformative journey, where healing is not just a destination but a process infused with compassion.

Trauma, in all its multifaceted forms—physical, emotional, and psychological—touches each of our lives. The enigmatic nature of what causes our very foundations to crack from these experiences has intrigued me personally. This intrigue has fueled my passion for working with trauma survivors, especially women. Having experienced trauma myself, I share a unique connection with those who are rebuilding themselves after enduring their traumas. It's about piecing oneself together, perhaps in different ways than before, always to emerge as a stronger, more resilient version of oneself.

A vital lesson I've learned is the importance of shedding the heavy baggage of shame and self-blame that often accompanies trauma. As your therapist, I don't claim to be an all-knowing expert; rather, I'm a fellow traveler on this path of healing. You are the expert of your own experience, and my role is to sit alongside you and help interpret the map. Together, we navigate the terrain of your emotions, thoughts, and memories, weaving a unique narrative of resilience that is entirely yours.

Opening up the vulnerable parts of yourself in therapy requires incredible courage. It's the hope that these hidden corners will be met with understanding rather than judgment. In this sacred space, you have the freedom to lay everything on the table—the good, the bad, and even the not-so-pretty. And here's the beautiful part: you are met with acceptance. This, in itself, marks a significant step in your healing journey.

Therapy is not just a place where you are accepted for who you are; it's where you are celebrated for it. It's a sanctuary where you can bring your whole self, including the messy and complicated parts. While it's natural for some to consider stepping back when initial excitement wanes and surface-level issues are dealt with, remember that therapy is not a sprint but a marathon. With time and commitment, profound transformations take root.

As you delve into the memories and beliefs that have caused you pain, a profound shift occurs. Through self-kindness, you create space for more trust and emotional intimacy in your relationships. It's precisely at this juncture that group work can elevate your healing journey. The fear of not being truly accepted if our authentic selves are revealed often leads us to put up a façade. Yet, I encourage you to do the opposite—to be raw and embrace love in our journey together. Healing unfolds rapidly when you welcome self-compassion and receive it from fellow group members. This synergy empowers you to walk the path of transformation with authenticity and resilience.

One powerful way to unlock the doors to healing is through developing insight via writing, music, or other forms of creative expression. I advocate for a daily journaling practice to clear mental clutter, identify self-talk patterns, and explore areas where we can shift narratives to tap into more adaptive and functional thoughts and behaviors. Mind-body techniques like deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and yoga can create even more space for self-love and self-compassion by helping you reconnect with your body, the very place where trauma is stored.

Together, we not only identify these scripts you carry with you but also work on shifting them. We utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to release and resolve the negative impact of trauma, ultimately crafting a new story for yourself. It is possible to find freedom from the things that hold you back and to be more empowered in your everyday life. Healing requires patience, and every healing path is unique. Some may find meditation beneficial, while others may gain resolution through creative expression or physical movement. Trusting your intuition and extending the same compassion to yourself that you would to your best friend, your daughter, or a loved one is an essential component of restoring the self-trust that trauma attacks.

So, welcome to this journey—a journey where healing is not just a destination but a process. Together, we'll embrace compassion, resilience, and growth as we navigate the beautiful complexities of your healing path. Trust the process; the transformation awaits.
